Contact Lenses

Contact LensContact lenses are a speciality of the practice especially those for sensitive eyes or complex prescriptions as well as the more straightforward. Below is a brief summary of the sorts of lenses and wearing patterns that are available The list can be quite daunting to someone new to contact lenses, but this will be fully explained during your consultation, and choices are based upon your eyes, your lifestyle and your budget.

Contact lenses are available in Rigid Gas Permeable or soft lens form but we can also fit hybrid, piggy back and scleral lenses. Disposable lenses are available in a range of materials, sizes and even colours!

Soft lenses are available as daily disposable, after two weeks of daily wear, after one month of daily wear, after one week of extended wear or after one month of continuous  wear. We also fit lenses that you wear overnight which give clear vision during the day after removal. (Overnight Vision Correction- see next page).

For patients with presbyopia (needing different prescriptions for distance and close work) bifocal or multifocal lenses are available. Lenses are also available for patients with astigmatism (where the eye is not uniformly spherical, so correction is needed more in one direction than another).

Lenses are available from Acuvue, Bausch+Lomb, Ultravision, Clearlab, Johnson and Johnson, CIBA Vision Coopervision, Menicon and many many more.
