We are an independent Opticians and Contact Lens Centre focussed on providing the very best in eye wear and eye care through the personal attention of the partners. The practice was established in Gillingham over 40 years ago, and the partners offer over 70 years of experience in a relaxed and unhurried environment. Extensive free parking is available nearby and the reception, dispensing areas and consulting room are all on one level, and are fully accessible. Dreamlite Ortho K  Dreamlite continues its popularity correcting your vision while you sleep. The contact lens is removed when you wake and you enjoy crisp unaided vision all day. Dreamlite Ortho K is a safe and completely reversible option. Imagine the freedom of normal unaided vision all day every day! Great for children as there have been some reports that this technique may slow or even stop the progression of myopia and it also means that any lens handling is always done at home. Super also for those with dry eyes (as the lenses are only worn whilst the eyes are closed) and sporty types, especially those doing water sports, with no worries about lens losses. Optomap We are very proud to announce that we are the first practice in Kent to be able to offer a greatly enhanced eye examination by the use of an Optomap Laser Retinal Scanner. What makes this device so special is that we can now observe nearly all the retina in one simple scan, lasting under one quarter of a second, without the use of any eye drops that would wreck your vision and light adaptation for several hours. The Optomap is an “optional extra” to the standard eye examination but one that we would strongly recommend on a regular basis for all patients of whatever age. Be sure to ask for an Enhanced Eye Examination when you book your appointment. It is very user friendly, quite painless and great for kids.

Hurry as this offer is only whilst stocks last.		I have been trialling a new spectacle lens called Drivewear. As the name might imply this is designed with the driver in mind. It has a very pleasing warm, mid-brown tint at its lightest, darkening in sunshine, even behind the windscreen, for greater absorption and comfort. The tint colour enhances contrast on the road and incorporates a polarising filter which makes wet roads and low sun conditions much more comfortable. Also great for fishing and other water activities. I was so impressed we have negotiated a special 20% discount on all Drivewear single vision and varifocal lenses ordered before the end of February 2009.

Unfortunately as time goes by not only do we have problems with our vision it also affects our hearing. On alternate Wednesday mornings we now have Anita attending the practice for all your hearing care needs. Free, no obligation hearing tests are available as are state-of-the-art hearing instruments should they be needed.
